Health care providers are faced with a number of challenges as regards Acute HIV infection. The first challenge is recognition as the acute retroviral symptoms mimic a number of other viral infections. The second challenge is treatment as there are a number of benefits and risks in treating early HIV both on an individual and public health level. This review hopes to address some of these questions.
